What CAUSES a Hangover? Drinking on an empty stomach Eating before drinking alcohol allows your body more ‘time’ to process the alcohol being consumed by ‘diluting’ the alcohol with what’s in your stomach. In addition, certain foods such as bread, dairy and foods with more fats and protein will coat your stomach which, in response, helps prevent nausea which can be attributed to the consumption of alcohol and hangovers. A good way to help prevent a hangover is to continually snack while you drink while drinking water. This will all help dilute what is in your stomach giving your body more time to break all the alcohol down.
